The Philosophy Behind Reclamation
Healing is not about becoming someone else. It is about reconnecting with who you are.
The human experience is what matters most. Every person deserves the opportunity to live a life that is meaningful to them, with dignity, autonomy, and the freedom to discover who they are beyond the expectations of others.
Life is not always easy, nor is healing about reaching some permanent state of happiness. Joy and grief, growth and uncertainty, love and loss can exist simultaneously. The goal is not perfection or perpetual bliss. It is contentment. Finding meaning and fulfillment in our lives while recognizing that difficulty is an inevitable part of being human.
Our experiences shape how we understand ourselves, how we connect with others, and what we come to expect from life. Sometimes the ways we have learned to survive no longer serve us. Sometimes the expectations we carry were never ours to begin with.
Therapy creates an opportunity to explore those experiences, understand our patterns, and reconnect with what matters to us.
At The Reclaiming Body™, our work is grounded in authenticity, curiosity, courage, and connection. There is no expectation that you arrive knowing exactly what you need or who you want to become.
We begin wherever you are.
Hi, I am CJ.
I am a collector of skills, an enthusiast of seemingly unrelated interests, and the caretaker of what is beginning to resemble a small animal sanctuary.
I have studied humanity, taught yoga, explored the underwater world, learned my way around a kitchen, and there was that one time I joined the military. I also have aspirations of befriending an entire murder of crows.
I have spent a surprising amount of my life learning things that seemingly had nothing to do with one another.
Until they did.
And just like you, I am human.
My curiosity once centered on understanding the physical aspects of the human body and its history. Over time, my own experiences shifted that curiosity toward something more personal: what it means to actually live a human life.
I have come to understand that people are complicated, experiences are deeply personal, and there is rarely one explanation for why we think, feel, or behave the way we do. That complexity is part of what drew me to counseling.
I am naturally curious, direct, compassionate, and sometimes a little unconventional. I recognize patterns in human behavior, but I also know that people do not fit neatly into categories. I want to understand your experiences, not make assumptions about them.
My approach is collaborative and integrative. I draw from evidence-based therapies while recognizing that our work needs to reflect your experiences, your needs, and your desires. I value authenticity, humor, and recognize that growth can involve discomfort, uncertainty, and difficult conversations.
I bring clinical knowledge and professional guidance into the therapy space, but I also bring my humanity. I am not here to tell you who to become or what your life should look like.
I am here to work alongside you as you discover what matters to you and what reclamation means in your life.
